# Users and security
> Roles, permissions, user creation, and credential updates.
## User types
| User | Main scope |
| ----------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Basic Viewer** | Reviews orders but cannot manage users or perform order actions. |
| **Basic Administrator** | Reviews and operates on orders; can create, update, or disable Viewer users. |
| **Acquirer Administrator** | Controls the acquirer's merchants and transactions. |
| **Simple Settlement Administrator** | Reviews merchants and may download keys, depending on configuration. |
## Create a user
An administrator can open **Users → Create user** and enter first name, last name, username, password, and confirmation. Named individual accounts are recommended.
Merchants can only create Basic Viewer users. Contact the acquirer to request another administrator.
## Update personal data
Any user can edit their first and last name. The sign-in username cannot be changed.
## Change the password
Enter the current password, then enter and confirm the new one. It must contain at least eight alphanumeric characters and must not repeat three consecutive characters from the previous password.
If failed attempts lock the account, request an unlock through the support channel defined by your acquirer.
